Today’s game is Dice Wars. It’s like a mini version of Risk where you have to roll higher than the territory you’re attacking. Good quick fun!
Today’s ‘everybody is stupid’ moment goes to the news that Camelot are withdrawing a scratch card game as it’s too confusing. Yes, it uses minus numbers to show cold temperatures and working out if you were colder or hotter proved a bit too much for some people.
Today’s bet was another of my crazy longshots. It’s a bet that Croatia don’t qualify from Euro 2008. They are currently top of the table with only two games to play but if Russia win both of their matches, Croatia lose against Macedonia and England beat Croatia next Wednesday then they don’t go through to the finals. It’s a long shot and it wasn’t even available at the normal betting sites. Therefore I took my first shot at using BetFair which is a totally different kind of betting site, called a betting exchange. Here you can place bets ‘against’ results as well and you can choose your odds from a selection. It’s not as complicated as it sounds. For a £25 stake (which was free with the offer I had) I stand to win over £600. Fingers crossed!
Today’s annoyance is Jacqui Smith, the Home Secretary, insisting that the War On Iraq has not increased the threat of terrorism. I feel so confident which such free thinkers in charge of the country.
Today’s mix tape comes from DJ Rocha with his Made Inn Radio Show mp3 mix - sorry about the RapidShare link. It’s a light deep tech-house mix with nothing too underground or experimental.
Today’s ha! comes from John Scalzi who reports back from the new Creation Museum somewhere in the US. “Every single thing on display in the Creation Museum is either caused by or a consequence of exactly three things: 1. The six-day creation; 2. Adam eating from the tree of life; 3. Noah’s flood.”

I’ll update this at various points tomorrow but so far here are the four horses standing out for me:
L’AMI: 14-1
SIMON: 16-1
MONKERHOSTING: 25-1
IDLE TALK: 16-1
If you’d like to bet online then please click on the link on the right side of the page, thanks!
Update:
Well I’ve had a complete change of mind. After the last few years of success I don’t know who will win. Mainly due to the heat and the firmness (oo-er) this year will be a bigger lottery than usual.
I can’t choose a winner from four horses so I put on a four-way accumulator which should allow me to retire if it comes in. Here are the first four horses: L’AMI, SIMON, IDLE TALK & NUMBERSIXVALVER. Remember they ALL have to finish in the first four.
The actual horse I put £8 to win on was POINT BARROW at 11-1. That’ll get me £100 if it comes in.
My main each way bet is £7 on MONKERHOSTIN at 25-1.
I also have £2 each ways on GRAPHIC APPROACH and KNOWHERE.
Here’s hoping I can turn that £30 into something more! Good luck everybody!
Update:
MONKERHOSTING and POINT BARROW have now moved to joint favourites at 8-1. Lucky I fixed the odds. Five minutes to go!
Update:

Gah! How disappointing. All three favourites (two that I backed) didn’t even make it over the first few jumps. AND West Ham are losing. Can it get any worse?!

I’ve been so busy since my last post working on a couple of amazing looking websites so here’s a week’s worth of posts in one big go.
The new Die Hard 4 teaser trailer:
The new man at Upton Park, Alan Curbishley. I think we’ll put 3 past Man Utd on Sunday.

He-Man sings 4 Non Blondes. A very messed up YouTube video featuring a camp He-Man singing a dance version of What’s Going On. I can’t get this out of my head now.
30 Essential Pieces Of Free Software for Windows. Superb collection of links to applications that will enhance your PC experience.
Boycott Christmas. Cartoons from the Christmas Resistance Movement.
The international contest of logos, trademarks and corporate identity Identity: Best of The Best 2006. Superb graphic design.
Look around Paisley Park. Take a 360 degree look around Prince’s home.
The Surrey Comet. Nothing special about this article entitled “Marksman called in to kill Kingston’s pigeons” but check out the comments below. Funniest thing I’ve seen this week.
Hot UK Deals. Amazing list of the latest cheap and free things to get online.

It’s good to see that The Argus has changed it’s website for the better. It now has a searchable news items, an RSS feed and permalinks. I might actually start reading it now.
Today’s news has a story on the artist Banksy who carried out some art attacks on Brighton music stores this week. “He took 500 copies of Paris Hilton’s debut album, Paris, and given them his own unique makeover…. On the front there is a sticker which claims her latest singles include “Why Am I Famous?”, “What Have I Done?” and “What Am I For?”… A picture of Paris behind the CD has replaced her head with that of her pet dog and the inlay card which features lyrics to her songs has slogans such as “Every CD you buy puts me even further out of your league” emblazoned across it. One picture has been replaced to show Paris getting out of a car next to a number of homeless people with the slogan “90per cent of success is just showing up.” - Read the whole story here.
It’s also good to see West Ham united on the back and front pages of many newspapers this morning due to the rumours of a Russian buy-out. The Sun lead with “I’m forever blowing Roubles” and had Tony Gale describing the new players as “the two biggest bombshells to hit the East End since the Luftwaffe.“. There a good article in the Independent too. Personally I think West Ham is undervalued at the moment and when the regeneration hits Newham in time for the 2012 Olympics the club could be worth a few more quid. Good business.

Sergio Garcia is currently 25/1 to win the open. Very good odds. If you fancy a flutter then click the Ladbrokes image on the top right of just click here. I’ve put £4 on which will give me a return of over £100 if lucky.
UPDATE: Sergio Garcia is now 8/1 - thats 15 minutes after my post. I could be on to a winner. As long as Tiger and Ernie don’t have amazing rounds that is.
And for people who don’t gamble you can take a look at this page showing the relative sizes of planets in our solar system.

Full story from Reuters:
– Only high-profile brothels said their business was humming.
“The first few days have been a bit slow, but it has really picked up now,” said a spokesman for Pascha in Cologne, Europe’s largest brothel, declining to give his name. “We are working at 100 percent capacity and could do more if we had more space.”
“For us, soccer and sex go very well together,” he said. “In soccer there is always a winner and a loser. One needs a party, the other one needs consolation, and we can offer both.”

This match is becoming as interesting as the one featured on The Simpsons.

As you may be able to see this site is now sponsored by Ladbrokes. Well not quite but I am an affiliate which means if you want to place a bet on the World Cup or play some online poker then click through the little Ladbrokes icon at the top right of the screen please.
I’ve formulated my betting plan for this years World Cup. I’m going to spend a total of £100 on bets over the five weeks, all from money I won from last months Graham Dott win. Normally I’d bet a £5 on the winner but this extra money will allow me to have much more fun.
Here are some serious tournament bets:
France to win World Cup: £8 12/1
Top Tournament Goalscorer:
Luca Toni - £8 18/1
Frank Lampard - £2 50/1
And here are some of my current stupid outside bets:
Japan to win World Cup: £2 150/1
Iran to win World Cup: 50p 250/1
Trinidad & Tobago to win World Cup: 50p 750/1
No own goals to be scored all tournament: £1 16/1
Top Tournament Goalscorer Joe Cole - £1 100/1
Group B Winner - Trinidad & Tobago - £1 40/1
And here’s some crazy match betting:
9 Jun Costa Rica to beat Germany - £3 9/1
10 Jun Trinidad & Tobago to beat Sweden - £3 9/1
15 Jun Trinidad & Tobago to beat England - £3 10/1
18 Jun Australia to beat Brazil - £3 10/1
20 Jun Equador to beat Germany - £3 7/1
22 Jun Japan to beat Brazil - £3 11/1
23 Jun Saudi Arabia to beat Spain - £3 9/1
Thats £45 in bets leaving £55 for the rest of the tournament.
If you dont fancy betting with money then why not play a World Cup fantasy football game for free. I’ve signed up to play one with Yahoo here. My team name is KingOfMyCastle. Leave a comment below if you enter your own team.
