Wow it’s like the 90s again. 15%, makes working out VAT much easier. They should suspend the tax for a few weeks – like they do in some US states that would spur the economy a little.

They should also get the media to be so gloomy about everything.

I think the violence should will be restricted to shopping malls.

Yeah, but where will the violence be? South America? Hungary? China v Korea? Let’s hope it’s not the South East of England.

So look like I was semi-right about a VAT cut. Although it seems like it may just be a VAT cut from 17.5% to 15%. That’s about a 2% drop in prices isn’t it? Pathetic!

Pub vouchers work aswell…like http://www.getthemin.com/ The criteria from the govt. should be that you can’t pay of debts or save the money.

Apparently these situations (global crisis) statistically end up in violenc.

It’s not clear that the US stimulus package actually helped – apparently a lot of people that received a rebate used it to pay off some of their debt. There are good for/against here -> http://macroblog.typepad.com/macroblog/2008/08/did-the-stimulu.html

And I’d think that the British are even more likely to pay off debt if they were given a rebate… so the answer is to give people vouchers to spend in shops and before you say which shops… they need to re-introduce the green shield stamps that can only be spent on goods and services. genius.
